To support internationalization and enhance academic quality, the Nutrition Department of the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University, organized an International Visiting Professor Online session as part of the UNDIP World Class University (WCU) 2025 Program. This event featured Prof. Dr. Barakatun Nisak Mohd Yusof from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), an expert in clinical nutrition, metabolic obesity, and diabetes.
The guest lecture, titled “Metabolic Obesity Management: Integrating Clinical Nutrition & Practice,” was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, via Zoom Meeting and attended by students, lecturers, and health professionals from various institutions.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Barakatun Nisak Mohd Yusof delivered a comprehensive presentation on integrative approaches to managing metabolic obesity, covering topics such as obesity physiology, clinical nutrition intervention planning, and evidence-based dietetic practices. Participants also engaged in clinical case discussions and practical sharing sessions focusing on simulated calculations of energy and nutrient requirements for patients with metabolic obesity.
The event began with opening remarks from representatives of UNDIP’s Nutrition Department and was moderated by the department’s academic team. The interactive series of sessions provided participants with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of clinical nutrition assessment, formulate comprehensive dietetic plans, and explore the integration of clinical nutrition strategies in managing patients with metabolic obesity.
Through this activity, the Nutrition Department of the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP strengthened its international network with Universiti Putra Malaysia and promoted potential collaborative research in clinical nutrition, metabolic studies, and dietetics. This initiative aligns with UNDIP’s strategy to enhance its academic reputation, increase international faculty engagement, and contribute to indicators of the QS World University Rankings.
With the successful implementation of this Online Visiting Professor program, the Nutrition Department of UNDIP hopes to continue expanding global collaborations, improving teaching quality, and providing tangible contributions to the development of clinical competencies among nutrition students and professionals in Indonesia.
