Semarang, 2025 — The Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University held a Visiting Professor program on November 10, 2025, featuring international guest speaker Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulfitri ’Azuan Bin Mat Daud from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The event, themed “How To Do Nutrition Focused Physical Examination (NFPE),” aimed to strengthen the academic capacity and clinical skills of students in conducting nutrition-focused physical assessments as part of a comprehensive nutritional evaluation.

The lecture covered the fundamental concepts of NFPE as a structured physical examination method used to assess nutritional status by identifying signs of nutrient deficiencies, changes in muscle and fat mass, and early indicators of malnutrition. Prof. Zulfitri also emphasized the importance of clinical observation skills and the integration of NFPE findings into dietetic decision-making to ensure more accurate and effective nutrition interventions.

Through this Visiting Professor activity, the Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University reinforces its international collaboration and reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the quality of education and professional competencies in clinical nutrition—especially in implementing NFPE as a global, evidence-based standard in nutritional assessment. This program also strengthened academic ties with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), opening opportunities for joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and curriculum development based on best clinical practices. Moreover, this collaboration is expected to broaden the scientific network between both institutions and foster innovative learning approaches aligned with advancements in modern nutrition science.
